I am not usually one to get very sentimental on my blog, but I am just having one of those nostalgic days. I’ve been sipping coffee and glancing every now and then out my window and am so thankful to be inside and warm. I’ve been spending the past week going through lots of things and sorting/cleaning/clearing out a lot of clutter around the house. With this has come the enormous task of weeding through all of the clothes that the boys have grown out of and deciding what to keep, what to donate and what to throw away. I’ve been on the verge of tears all morning looking through all of their clothes and realizing how much they are growing and wishing that time could stop a just a little bit.
Then, on a little cleaning break, I decided to check out all of the blogs that I follow and I headed on over to my friend Betsy’s blog where I always enjoy seeing pics of her adorable family (she is so good about posting about her family!). Well, she posted a little slideshow of images that she had collected of her family and her life in 2008. Once again I was reminded about the passage of time and I came to the realization that I need to be a LOT better about taking pictures of my family. I have spent so much time going and going and going this year and taking photos for so many wonderful families and haven’t brought the camera out as much for my own! What is that saying about the “carpenter with the leaking roof” or something like that? The reason that going through some of these old baby clothes has been so difficult is because I don’t feel like I have gotten enough pictures of the boys in their different stages so far. ANYWAY, from now on I am giving my camera and video camera a permanent spot of their own in the living room, charged up, ready to go with memory cards/tapes/batteries so that I can grab them whenever I want to. So many of you are saying “duh!” right now, but hey, it takes me a little while to figure some basic things out sometimes![]()
A few weeks ago I posted our Christmas cards with some of these images of the boys on them, but to be honest, the cards were a secondary part of a project that I planned to do for a while. Each square image is being mounted right now and I’ll be putting each of them up on the main wall of our family room in this configuration–unframed mounted prints in a square grid like this! I am sooo excited.
Thanks for visiting and reading my blabbery! Go hug your family today and take lots of pictures!
